الأمواج العالية تسبب بانهيار حاجز بحري وتهدد حياة سكان مدينة كاملة في موهيلي
ارتفاع منسوب مياه البحر يسبب في انهيار سد مدينة هواني شمال غرب جزيرة موهيلي و يشل ميناء المدينة ويجبر السكان على مغادرة منازلهم خوفا من الغرق
مدينة هُواني التي تحتضن الميناء البحري للقادمين من مدينة شِنديني أقصى جنوب جزيرة القمر الكبرى، تقع في قبضة أمواج المحيط الهندي التي تسببت بأضرار بالغة تهدد السكان، ففي ليلة الاثنين 26 سبتمبر لم يصمد الحاجز الأسمنتي أمام الأمواج العالية نتيجة ارتفاع منسوب مياه البحر فانهار ليترك المدينة تواجه الغرق ويتهدد مصير الميناء الذي يستخدمه كثير من السكان في البلاد
ومنذ صباح يوم الاثنين لم يجد سكان المدينة الذين لم يعرف النومُ تلك الليلة سبيلا إلى جفونهم، لم يجدوا حلا إلا ترك منازلهم لينجوا بأنفسهم من كارثة محتملة بعد انهيار السد الذي شكل على مدار الأعوام حماية لمدينتهم
وقد زار محمد فاضل، حاكم الجزيرة، المدينة للوقوف على الأضرار وسط تساؤلات من الحشد عن فائدة الضرائب اليومية التي تفرض على المسافرين إلى مدينة شِنديني في جنوب انغزيجا إذا لم يتم فعل أي شيء في غضون الأسابيع القلية القادمة
ومن جانب آخر تسببت الأمواج العالية في غرق زورق يوم أمس كان قد قدِم من مدينة بِمبيني في جزيرة أنجوان إلى بلدة إساميا في موهيلي توفيت فيه امرأة
وتتعرض جزر القمر بين الحين والآخر لكوارث طبيعية تتعلق بارتفاع منسوب مياه المحيط الهندي وتسبب بانحسار الأراضي في ظل عجز الدولة عت بناء حواجز قوية تمنع من تقدم أمواج البحر نحو الجزر
