في إطار الاهتمام الذي يوليه الرئيس غزالي عثمان لتوسيع وتعزيز علاقات التعاون بين دول الجوار في المحيط الهندي ، وطأت قدماه اليوم الأربعاء ٤ أغسطس أرض جمهورية موزامبيق ، حيث قام بأول زيارة له إليها بدعوة نظيره الموزامبيقي، الرئيس فيليب نيوسي في القصر الرئاسي بالعاصمة مابوتو.
وقد أعرب الرئيس نيوسي عن تقديره لزيارة رئيس جزر القمر إلى بلاده معبرا عن امتنانه لكلمات التعزية التي قدمها غزالي وتضامن جزر القمر مع بلاده في لحظة تحتاج فيها موزامبيق إلى جميع الدول الشقيقة في مواجهة تحديات الساعة.
من جانبه صرح الرئيس غزالي عثمان أن هذه الزيارة الأخوية إلى موزامبيق لم تكن بهدف الاطلاع على الأوضاع هناك فحسب ، وإنما تهدف أيضا إلى النظر حول مدى قدرة البلدين على تضافر الجهود من أجل توطيد السلام والأمن، ودعم التنمية الاجتماعية والاقتصادية المشتركة ، وذلك في الإطار الثنائي وعبر الاتحاد الأفريقي ومجموعة التنمية لدول أفريقيا الجنوبية اللذان تتشارك الدولتان العضوية فيهما.
ومن جهة أخرى حول العلاقات الثنائية بين البلدين اتفق الزعيمان على زيادة التبادلات والزيارات مع تشكيل لجنة مشتركة تكلف بالعمل بحلول شهر سبتمبر المقبل على توقيع اتفاقيات التعاون وتشكيل لجنة مختلطة بين البلدين.
وأبدى الرئيس الموزامبيقي ، فيليب نيوسي عن رغبته للقيام بزيارة إلى جزر القمر قريباً حرصا منه للحفاظ على الزخم الحالي الذي أحدثته العلاقات الثنائية أثناء زيارة الرئيس غزالي إلى جمهورية موزامبيق.
