اعتقلت قوات الدرك في جزيرة أنجوان رجلا ثلاثينيا بتهمة حرق المصحف الشريف في منزل العائلة بمدينة كوني جوجو، وحسب المصادر فإن الشخص قد قام بذلك يوم الخميس ، 17 نوفمبر بعد تناوله المشروبات الكحولية والمخدرات
أما جعفر سعيد، والي المنطقة فيستنكر صمت السلطات ورئيس بلدية كوني جوجو نجيم مهدالي إزاء هذا الحدث، ويتهمه بجعل البلدية ملكًا له من خلال رفضه أي تدخل من أي طرف
وقد أفاد الوالي جعفر سعيد أن الانحراف والعنف يتزايدان في البلدة بسبب انغلاق رئيس البلدية على نفسه مضيفا أنه قد بذلت عدة محاولات لم تفلح في التوصل إلى اتفاق مع رئيس البلدية وذلك من أجل الوقوف معا ضد هذه الشرور التي تضرب المنطقة.
و يشار إلى أن هذا الاعتداء على المصحف أثار استياء وخوف سكان القرية الذين اجتمعوا للصلاة لطلب المغفرة من الله.
